Military moms part ways with national charter, strike out on their own

 A local group of military moms dedicated to sending care packages to overseas troops has left the national charter of Blue Star Mothers of America.

In all, there are six Blue Star Mothers of America chapters in Arizona. The Havasu group, formed in June 2007, is one of two in Arizona suspended this year for the same reason.

Kathy McCraw, president of the local group, said there was a series of events leading to the change, including Havasu following suit of dozens of other Blue Star Mothers groups in America who have been suspended or revoked by the national group. Office politics were prevalent, she said.
