The Blue Star Mothers, a nonprofit veterans service organization of mothers who now have, or have had, children serving honorably in the military, read the names of those honored with a flag.

Guest speaker Gary Minadeo, American Legion Ninth District Commander, reminded the crowd the U.S. was founded on God and country. He encouraged everyone to talk to their children and grandchildren about the founders of our country and those who sacrificed their lives to uphold the Constitution.

“In battle, you are putting your life on the line to protect an ideal — the Constitution of the United States of America,” he said. “Talk to your children about faith and country.”
