"PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Veterans on the Lower Eastern Shore had a chance to learn about information that could help them both as they return home from a deployment, and as they get older.
The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs held an information muster at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore's Richard Henson Center on May 22. Groups were handing out information not only to veterans, but to their families as well. Among those groups were the Delmarva Blue Star Mothers, which provide support for families with loved ones serving overseas, along with medical groups with locations to help returning soldiers cope with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Veterans have a right to utilize these resources."

Universal Remembrance
"Thank you for these very kind words of introduction. It is a great privilege to come before Blue Star Mothers of America to explore the spirit of Universal Remembrance. It is comforting a thought to know that you, America’s Blue Star Mothers, remain tireless in your efforts to fulfill your Congressional mandate, “to perpetuate the memory of all men and women, who serve our country as members of the Armed Forces.” Never greater the need for your service to the Nation than at times of war. For in providing support for our sons and daughters in uniform, in promoting patriotism, assisting veterans, and in providing homeland volunteer efforts you help maintain and preserve the home front. In the forefront of the war effort, you live up to the Nation’s call “to uphold the American institutions of freedom, justice, and equal rights, and to defend the United States from all enemies.”"

Airman Mom: Instant Friends
"As I have stated many times, attending an Operation Welcome Home event is always no less than amazing! To be in the presence of our heroes and shake their hands is an honor."
Friday night, while waiting for the plane to touch down; I wandered over to a group of ladies who were wearing Blue Star tee shirts. Oh my goodness, this is my Maryland Chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America! I recently transferred to this chapter, after the folding of the virtual chapter. This was so cool! Six brand new Instant Friends! By the end of the OWH event, we had shared laughs, tears and hugs. We are proud Blue Star Mothers, there to support each other

."Each and every one of these moms, understand me and I understand them. We
havea child (or children) in the military. Our children who not so long ago were
inour arms, are now holding an M-16. Our children not so long ago, walked
intotheir first day of school; they now have been through Basic and Tech
Schools. Our children who not so long ago were ours to hold tightly during a
thunderstorm or bad dream, are now protecting our nation. Our children who at
anymoment we would lay our life down for, will now place themselves in harm's
wayfor our country.
We are still their moms."

Weekly Reward, 04.25.2008
"☑Sparky Watts called and gave a final count as far as the amount of money raised by the recent ham and bean supper. The event raised just a little more than $1,000 for the Blue Star Mothers group, so here's a thumbs up to the Vietnam Veterans group that put on the event and to all those who attended and supported the event. According to Watts there were 263 adult meals served and another 12 children meals served. The next ham and bean supper will take place in the fall."
