The Blue Star Mothers came calling. They were looking for lap quilts to
send to wounded warriors overseas and these sewing ladies stepped in to
help.
Hiltrud Ridenour with Blue Star Mothers said, "All of a sudden, I get a
phone call. She said, 'Are you the gal that called me about the
quilts?' I said yes. She said, 'I've got 26, can you come to Belen?'"
Three years later, 46 turned into more than 400.
