A new law will allow specialized Gold Star licence plates to be issued, at no extra charge, to the parents of those who fought and died in military conflict.
Wayne Bier, a Gold Star father, stood smiling in the busy conference room. Accompanied by his 19-year-old daughter Sarah, Bier looked over the governor’s shoulder as she signed the bill, and shook hands with other military families.
Traditionally, stars are displayed at homes on a service banner. Blue stars signify the number of family members in active service, and the Gold Star honors a family member who has died in combat. The Chehalis family of a fallen Iraq War Marine was honored Wednesday during bill signing in Gov.
