Funeral set for fallen soldier

The Duncan Banner - Funeral set for fallen soldier: "DUNCAN — Funeral for Spec. Dennis Pratt, 34, of Duncan, is set for 2 p.m. Friday in Frontier Chapel at Fort Sill.

Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service of Lawton is in charge of arrangements.

Pratt, son of Jim and Sinnamon Pratt of Duncan, died July 20 when the Humvee he was driving in Afghanistan was hit by an artillery shell. He is the first known Stephens County resident to die in combat in Afghanistan.

The Patriot Guard and other veterans groups, law enforcement personnel and others in the community are planning to escort the family to the Stephens-Comanche County line on Friday, when other veterans groups will take over the escort duties to Fort Sill.

The Duncan chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America is helping coordinate expressions of support for the Pratt family. The group is designed to support families of military people, especially those who have been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other places.For information on donations, expressions of sympathy or other topics pertaining to the family, call GayLynn McCormick at 656-0307."
