Mothers group offers Star power

"APOLLO BEACH - Marilyn Custer's son, Bryan, began serving a tour of duty in Iraq as a specialist in the U.S. Army in April.
Unfortunately, Custer had suffered a scare related to her son's health before he was even shipped overseas.
'When he first got to his duty station, he was bitten by a spider, didn't realize it, and became very sick,' said Custer, an Apollo Beach resident. 'Everyone in the barracks was away on a four-day leave, and I had no knowledge of protocol.
'I just knew my son was sick and there was no way for me to get to him.'
That incident occurred before Custer discovered Blue Star Mothers of America, a nonprofit organization that supports military families"
