Blue Star Moms collecting items

Community Press - Blue Star Moms collecting items: "BURLINGTON - The Northern Kentucky Chapter 5 of the Blue Star Mothers of America Inc. is hosting a donation drive on Saturday, March 22, in the Pebble Creek subdivision's clubhouse for soldiers who are overseas.
Burlington resident Wanda McNees said the group is looking for snack foods, personal hygiene items (men and women), men's crew socks, candy, mints, lip balm and lotions. Canned meat such as tuna and beef jerky are also good.
"Anything that we can do to help (the soldiers) and to thank them and to let them know that we're thinking about them is why we do it," said McNees, whose son is in the Army National Guard and earlier this month arrived home after serving in Afghanistan.
The chapter will be at the subdivision's clubhouse from 2-6 p.m. that day. The clubhouse is on Pebble Creek Way in Burlington. They are also accepting monetary donations. Checks can be made out to Blue Star Moms or cash can be given."
