"The parents of Lance Corporal Brandon Lara were presented with scrapbooks from the Canyon Lake area Blue Star Mothers and Patrick Miller of the Gold Star Families in a brief and somber presentation Thursday evening at Frost Bank on 315 Landa St.
Lance Cpl. Brandon T. Lara died July 19 in an attack in Al Anbar province in Iraq. Twenty-year-old Lara attended Canyon High School, but opted into Memorial High School to graduate early and join the Marines.
The scrapbooks are meant to provide personal and heart-felt condolences for the families that receive them.
“It includes condolence letters from other Blue Star moms and people here in town, news articles, cards from people, it’s just a keepsake,” said Penni Salge of the Canyon Lake Area Blue Star Mothers."
