By Barb Pert Templeton Voice Reporter
Finding a U.S. soldier's boot atop a counter at a local party store or gas station may soon be the norm as operation 'Fill a Boot With Your Spare Loot' begins. Advertisement The unusual fund-raiser is sponsored by the Blue Star Mothers of America Blue Water Chapter 180 to raise money to send soldiers holiday packages. 'The boot banks are actual boots from soldiers who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan,' chapter President Carla Brodacki said. 'So far I have eight sets to use. Some are black and some are camel colored; those have been in the sand in Iraq.' Each boot has a yellow ribbon tied to it with a note seeking coin donations to support projects sponsored by the chapter. Several other new projects include Operation Wounded Warriors and Operation Rudolph, which will provide packages for soldiers in Germany, Iraq and Afghanistan.
